Here are some things that you should AVOID doing while trying to lose weight
1 - Cutting out a food group : You'll lose weight when you virtually cut out a food group because you drastically reduce your calorie intake. But, deprivation sets you up for cravings, and you're likely to overdo it. Once you add that group back in, the pounds will come back on.
2 - Eating nothing but rice cakes : Rice cakes aren't only low in calories, they're among the most nutritionally devoid foods out there. You'll miss out on vitamins and nutrients such as iron. This will not give you the fuel you need to live and will break down muscle in order to give you energy.
3- Skipping and skimping meals (I am sooo bad about this) : If you're eating only small amounts or skipping meals, you'll be getting merely a few paltry vitamins and some sugar. Not only do you raise the risk for abnormal heart rhythms by eating so little, but the body starts to take minerals like calcium from bones!

So you ate sugary cereal for breakfast and chomped into a big fat burger for dinner. Relax! No one needs to be a perfect eater all of the time. Berate yourself for not doing better and you could trigger emotional overeating. To ease your mind I've found everyday diet flubs you can stop stressing about.
1- Eating Empty Carbs : As long as half of your daily servings of grain are the 100 percent whole kind, the rest can be whatever you like. Pasta, bread and cereals made with enriched white flours still offer important nutrients such as folic acid.
2- The Only Veggie You Like Is Carrots : If you are eating carrots instead of fries, you're doing pretty well! You'll likely get bored with one food eventually. To expand your repertoire, try a veggie similarly sweet and crunchy (such as a red bell pepper)
3- You Love Red Meat : What's your beef? There's no need to eschew red meat, but choose lean cuts (flank, top round, sirloin) and keep portions to no more than 4 ounces per meal, 3 times per week. Besides being a good source of satiating protein, red meat is also rich in iron and zinc, two nutrients your body needs to maintain healthy cell production.
4- You Don't Read Labels : Great, then you're not being led astray by the healthy, sugar-free claims, which can entice you to overeat. But also check the nutrition panel for partially hydrogenated oils. If you see them listed, leave the product (and its trans fats) on the shelf. Even perfect eaters have limits!
